TripNeeds Group and the WEEE Directive
The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires countries to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of Electrical or Electronic Equipment (EEE) items.

What is the WEEE Directive?
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations place a range of legal obligations on producers and distributors of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), including the collection and recycling of equipment at the end of its useful life. All Electronic and Electrical Equipment (EEE) placed onto the market from 13 August 2005 must be marked with this symbol to indicate that it is covered by the WEEE Directive, the provisions of which require that producers or manufacturers of EEE become liable to pay for take-back treatment and recycling of end of life equipment (WEEE):
The aims of the directive are to:
- Reduce the amount of WEEE sent to landfill
- Promote the separate collection, treatment & recycling of WEEE
- Ensure the safe treatment and disposal of hazardous components
- Encourage producers to make products easier to recycle.
The regulations came into force on 2nd January 2007, and in phases up to July 2007 producers had to join a compliance scheme, mark electrical and electronic equipment and take full responsibility for treating and recycling household WEEE.

For example, if you buy a digital luggage scale from TripNeeds.com, you are entitled to return your old digital luggage scale back to us.
Customers must return their like-for-like WEEE item to us within 28 days of purchasing their new item.
